The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced that a subsidiary of outsourcing company Wagmi Solutions plans to build a manufacturing plant in the Philippines to diversify its business away from Mexico and China.

The factory will produce HEPA filters, used to remove particles from the air, mainly for export to US air purifier brand Medify Air. The project will also use coconut shells to produce activated carbon, directly benefiting coconut farmers.

The Philippine Trade Secretary said he welcomed the investment and would work with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) to ensure its success and benefits for all parties involved. The project will also benefit from various incentives under the Business Recovery and Corporate Tax Incentives Act.
