Xpeng Aeroht, a subsidiary of Xpeng Motors, plans to start deliveries of flying cars by the end of 2025, with the first batch priced at more than 1 million yuan in China.

The vehicle is a modular vehicle, including a flight module and a six-wheeled module for ground use. The company showcased a concept electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) flying car, which is a single unit that can fly and drive, unlike a land aircraft carrier. Xpeng plans to launch flying cars in China first, focusing on the aviation enthusiast market.

The company said it faced challenges in co-developing components such as batteries and flight control systems, and needed to address issues such as airspace approvals, certifications and regulations. The Chinese government has been active in supporting the electric aviation sector, incorporating the “low-altitude economy” into national planning.
