The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the Federation of Inventors of the Philippines (Filinfed) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate to improve global innovation rankings.

Rowel Barba, Director General of IPOPHL, said the agreement would help inventors overcome challenges in IP protection, enforcement and commercialization. The collaboration will also help improve the Philippines’ ranking in the GII, with the goal of moving up to 56th in the GII in 2023 and 25th in 2040.

According to the MOU, IPOPHL will provide advanced training and assistance to help Filinfed members register their IP rights more smoothly and quickly.

Filinfed pledged to actively participate in the IPOPHL program to promote IP and help the Philippines achieve a higher ranking in the Global Innovation Index.
