South Korean AI chip startup Rebellions has closed a $124 million Series B funding round led by South Korean telecom giant KT. The new funds will be used to develop a third AI chip, Rebel, to increase data center chip Atom production and recruitment.

Rebellions is valued at $658 million and has raised $210 million in three years since its founding. Powered by Samsung’s 4nm manufacturing process, Rebel will be deployed in Samsung’s memory chip technology, HBM3E, designed to process large language models.

The company emphasizes the versatility of its chips, which can support a wide range of generative AI models. Rebellions’ first chip, Ion, is designed for edge computing.

Samsung partner KT has installed Rebellions’ data center target AI chip, Atom, in a cloud-based neural processing unit (NPU).
