Elon Musk’s Neuralink company is the first to be implanted in the human brain to help paralyzed patients.
Musk shared the good news of the recovery of the first recipient of the implant and said that the initial results of the neuronal spike test are promising. He envisioned that the technology would increase the speed of communication, similar to that of Stephen Hawking. The first product of the technology will be called “Telepathy”.
Neuralink plans to provide more independence for paralyzed patients by enabling thought-controlled electronics through brain interfaces. The company received approval from the U.S. FDA last year for first-in-human trials.
Neuralink’s goal is to create universal brain interfaces that improve the quality of life for people with unmet medical needs.
