U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo plans to allocate funds from the government’s $39 billion plan within two months to boost semiconductor manufacturing. She said complex negotiations with chip companies are underway and more announcements will be made in six to eight weeks.

The Semiconductor Fund aims to subsidize chip production and related supply chain investments, and the award will promote factory construction and production ramp-up. Raimondo expressed optimism about the next-generation investment cooperation with TSMC, Samsung, Intel and other companies. In December, she is expected to win more than a dozen semiconductor chip financing awards.

Despite the cyclical problems in the market, Raimondo is optimistic about chip demand, believing that AI will drive demand for chips that have never been seen before.
