Yamaha Motor supports a $40 million financing for an Indian electric scooter company

India is promoting two-wheeled electric vehicles as part of its net-zero emissions efforts, and the market is expected to reach $750 million by 2025.

River recently raised $40 million in a Series B funding round led by Yamaha Motor with participation from Al-Futtaim Automotive, Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, and Maniv Mobility, among others.

River plans to use the funds to expand its e-scooter distribution and service network in India and conduct new product research and development. This investment brings the total amount of funds raised by River to $68 million since 2021.
