Apple decided to terminate its 10-year electric car research and development plan and transfer employees to the artificial intelligence department. This marks the end of one of the most ambitious projects in the company’s history. The decision relieved some investors, and the stock price recovered slightly.
Tesla CEO Musk welcomed this. Apple has invested billions of dollars in the car project, but it has been plagued by difficulties and has repeatedly adjusted its leadership and strategy. Top executives recently made the decision to terminate the project, people familiar with the matter said.
While the project encountered difficulties during its development, Apple continues to invest heavily in other areas, such as the recently launched Vision Pro headset.
