Tropic Haze, the company behind the Yuzu emulator, has reached a settlement with Nintendo, paying millions of dollars and giving up its rights to market Yuzu.

Nintendo accuses the emulator of promoting piracy, and while the emulator itself does not directly cause piracy, it may facilitate illegal sharing. Tropic Haze now has to pay $2.4 million in damages and relinquish Yuzu’s services.

The move sent shockwaves through the emulation community, as many are looking to Yuzu to run Switch games on different hardware to increase resolution and frame rates.
