Alibaba invests in another artificial intelligence startup, valued at $2.5 billion

Alibaba’s investment in artificial intelligence continues to grow, becoming one of the major forces in China. The latest investment of more than US$600 million led MiniMax, with a valuation of more than US$2.5 billion.

MiniMax focuses on social artificial intelligence, providing Talkie for the international market and Xing Ye applications for the Chinese market. Alibaba also led an investment in Moonshot AI, which valued it at US$2.5 billion.

Alibaba plans to integrate artificial intelligence into diversified businesses, including its entertainment business, aiming to drive growth in independent units such as cloud computing. Its cloud business currently serves about 80% of China’s technology companies and hosts 50% of generative artificial intelligence companies.
