According to Bloomberg, Apple has acquired Canadian artificial intelligence startup DarwinAI. The company focuses on vision-based technology for improving efficiency in the manufacturing process.

Although the deal has not yet been announced, some DarwinAI team members joined Apple’s machine learning team in January. DarwinAI has raised more than $15 million in funding from investors including BDC Capital, Honeywell Ventures, Obvious Ventures and Inovia Capital.

So far, the companies involved have not commented, and Apple did not respond to a request for comment. This acquisition may help Apple introduce more AI features in iOS 18 to catch up with competitors such as OpenAI and Google.
