Nissan is reportedly considering an electric vehicle partnership with Honda. Japanese automakers have made slow progress in developing electric vehicles, resulting in failure in the Chinese market.

Honda and Nissan are both considering cutting production capacity in China, while BYD plans to expand its sales network in Japan. Nissan declined to comment, while Honda made no announcement. Nissan’s CEO said it faces a tough business environment.

Analysts said Nissan was pushing for the deal and Honda might be willing to accept it. Last year, Honda and General Motors’ electric car plans suffered setbacks.
