The Philippines and Japan are promoting clean and green technologies through cooperation among conglomerates, with support from the Department of Energy. The Energy Secretary held a meeting with Japanese officials and business executives to discuss a framework for action on decarbonization.

The Japan Bank for International Cooperation signed a memorandum of cooperation with Aboitiz Power Corp., San Miguel Corp. and Metro Pacific Investments Corp. to launch projects consistent with the Asian Zero Emissions Community project.

The two countries will use liquefied natural gas and renewable energy to build resilient energy infrastructure to reduce carbon emissions. The U.S. Department of Energy said the Philippines will work closely with Japan to contribute to the decarbonization of Asia.
