The United States has been Taiwan’s main export market for four consecutive months, surpassing China, Taipei’s Ministry of Finance said. Taiwan is a major producer of microchips, supplying the world’s most advanced silicon wafers that power a variety of devices, including electric cars, satellites and fighter jets.
While China has long been Taiwan’s largest export market, Treasury data showed the United States topped the list for the first time since August 2003. This trend is attributed to the restructuring of the global electronics and ICT supply chain and the popularity of the artificial intelligence industry.
