U.S. Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall will be one of the non-pilot testers of artificial intelligence-controlled F-16 jets. He will observe how the F-16 aircraft operates in the sky.

Kendall said the program is moving forward quickly, with the Air Force last week transporting three F-16s to Eglin Air Force Base for fully automated testing. It’s part of the Air Force’s automation program, and Kendall praised the program’s progress.

In addition, the Pentagon’s Cooperative Combat Aircraft program plans to work with five companies to develop artificial intelligence-powered drones. These technologies promise to improve the accuracy of war planning and reduce potential conflicts resulting from poor decisions.
