Fierce competition from Chinese display makers has prompted Samsung Display to significantly increase its workforce dedicated to developing small OLED panels, causing unease in South Korean media.

Data shows that Samsung’s global AMOLED market share continues to decline, from 56% to 43%, while Chinese competitor BOE’s market share has increased to 15%.

Samsung has adjusted its strategy and reallocated engineers to focus on small OLED displays in response to changes in market demand. The move highlights the trend of Korean companies reorganizing under the pressure of Chinese competition to maintain their dominance in the OLED field.
