According to IDC data, Apple iPhone shipments fell by nearly 10% in the first quarter of this year, bucking the trend. Global smartphone market shipments increased by 7.8%, and Samsung regained the top spot.

Low-price brand Transsion Holdings’ shipments increased by 85%, Xiaomi’s shipments rebounded, and the gap with Apple narrowed. This led to a fall in the share prices of Apple’s Asian suppliers, with suppliers in South Korea and Japan also affected.

Although the sales share of Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro series may increase, Apple has to provide discounts to stimulate sales. Some Chinese retailers even offer price reductions of up to $180 on new products.
