NASA and the U.S. government plan to return to the moon before 2030 and cooperate with Japanese astronauts. The agreement was announced by President Biden during Fumio Kishida’s visit to the United States.

Biden said two Japanese astronauts will participate in the mission, one of whom will become the first non-American to land on the moon. This collaboration marks a new era of international astronaut landings on the moon.

The Artemis 2 mission is scheduled to launch in 2025, but the specific mission of the Japanese astronauts is not yet clear. In addition, a Japanese-made lunar cruiser will also go to the moon with the mission.
