Ant Group, Alibaba’s fintech subsidiary, has received approval from the Chinese government to bring products powered by its large-scale language model Bailing to the public. Xu Peng, vice president of Ant Group, said that Bailing will be used in various services and will help innovation.

Alibaba defines artificial intelligence as one of its two core strategies, and the government’s approval is in line with Alibaba’s efforts. The company’s commerce arm has also launched a suite of tools, including a chatbot for small businesses trying to expand overseas.

In addition, Alibaba Cloud released Unified Qianwen 2.0 last week. Alibaba Cloud owns half of China’s generative artificial intelligence companies and provides services to about 80% of China’s technology companies. Ant Financial launched two applications powered by its financial large-scale language model in September, namely “Zhi Xiaobao” and “Zhi Xiaozhu”, focusing on providing customers with question answers and assistants to financial professionals.
