Philippines Globe, Ayala Corp and Singapore’s ST Telemedia Global Data Center have launched the STT Cavite 2 data center project in the Cavite province of the Philippines, which is the second data center in the region. The new facility is located at the Gateway Business Park in General Trias, Cavite, and has a total IT capacity of up to 6 MW.

Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu said that due to the growing global demand for data centers, the Philippines could become a regional data center hub, bringing significant revenue to the country. Information and Communications Technology Minister Ivan John Huang said that the construction of data centers will bring benefits to the economy, considering data as “gold” and needs to be stored in safe and reliable facilities. STT GDC Philippines President and CEO Carlo Malana pointed out that the new data center is designed to meet the needs of global technology giants such as Google.

STT Cavite 2 is expected to be operational by 2025 and will create more job opportunities in the Philippines while meeting growing data center demand, especially in areas such as artificial intelligence.
