DICT partners with ComClark to provide free internet

The Philippine Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has partnered with ComClark Network and Technology Corp. to provide free digital access to more than 2,000 geographically remote and disadvantaged areas across the country through the Broadband Masa initiative. The collaboration aims to bridge the digital divide and enable Filipinos to access the opportunities of the digital economy.

ComClark chief operating officer said the project will deploy fixed VSAT, fiber optic technology and mobile satellite communication terminals in disadvantaged areas. The project will also help government agencies stay connected during disasters.

The DICT Undersecretary said that the cooperation is to overcome the challenges of Internet connectivity in the Philippine archipelago and complex terrain and ensure that everyone has access to the best services.

The project also involves the cooperation of multiple connectivity providers, covering 17 regions across the country.
