The National Electrification Administration (NEA) will work with the Spanish Embassy in the Philippines to develop the power grid for Maguindanao del Sur, improve the distribution system and drive economic growth in Mindanao.

The Spanish Embassy will conduct a feasibility study and Maguindanao Electric Cooperative Company will provide the required requirements. Plans include installing solar power plants and increasing renewable energy. Spanish energy companies such as Elecnor and Acciona participated in project discussions.

NEA data shows that Magelco currently connects 32.84% of 173,023 potential households in Maguindanao. The collaboration aims to resolve power supply issues and technical deficiencies.
