According to research firm Omdia, the foldable mobile phone market will experience explosive growth in 2023, with the launch of 18 new models, 13 of which use displays from Chinese manufacturers such as BOE and TCL.

Chinese display manufacturers are becoming increasingly competitive and are expected to supply up to 13 million foldable displays by 2024, meeting global demand of approximately 14.5 million units. Companies such as TCL and China Star have entered the market through mass production of low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) backsheets, polarizer-free technology and ultra-thin cover glass.

While innovation gives consumers more choice, manufacturers are tired of keeping up with the competition, with rollable and expandable displays expected in the future.
