Eleven tech companies, including Microsoft, Google and Amazon, have signed agreements with the UK government to combat online fraud.

The agreement aims to strengthen the containment and clean-up of fake content, and promises to implement relevant measures within six months. According to the Home Office, fraud accounts for 40% of crimes in England and Wales, with nearly eight out of ten authorised payment frauds originating from the internet.

The partnership will provide an easy way to report fraudulent content and work closely with law enforcement to sustain the fight against cybercrime, especially to protect vulnerable groups.
