Apple plans to produce batteries for the upcoming iPhone 16 in India to reduce its reliance on manufacturing in China and diversify its global supply chain.

Sources revealed that Apple has notified component suppliers to purchase batteries from India. If the iPhone 16 battery supply goes smoothly, Apple plans to further transfer iPhone battery production to India.

The Indian minister revealed that Apple supplier TDK is building a factory in India to produce iPhone batteries. Apple’s production lines in India have already produced iPhone 15 batteries, and Foxconn plans to invest approximately US$1.5 billion in new production facilities in India.
