The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled that Samsung Electronics and Samsung SDS did not infringe an outdoor electronic display patent lawsuit filed by Manufacturing Resources International Inc. (MRI).

MRI accused Samsung of infringing five patents related to cooling systems for electronic displays in outdoor kiosks. The ITC’s preliminary decision concluded that Samsung did not infringe, and MRI subsequently requested the issuance of an exclusion order and a cease and desist order.

The final verdict will take about six months. Sources say Samsung is confident that the court will support the ITC’s ruling.
