OpenAI in talks to raise new funding at $100 billion valuation

OpenAI is in early negotiations for a new round of financing that could value it at more than $100 billion. Discussions with Abu Dhabi-based G42 about raising funds for a new chip joint venture. It’s unclear how the chip companies relate to the company’s overall financing.

OpenAI considers raising $8 billion to $10 billion from G42. Microsoft has committed to investing more than $10 billion in OpenAI, and Thrive Capital plans to complete a separate tender offer for OpenAI in early January, valuing it at $86 billion.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was ousted in late November and later reinstated with a promise to form a new board of directors.
