Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) announced the recall of 6,671 vehicles produced between 2010 and 2014, including Golf GTI, Eos, Passat CC, Polo, Beetle and Vento.

The reason for the recall is that the driver’s front airbag gas generator housing may deteriorate due to humidity and temperature fluctuations, which could cause the generator propellant to deteriorate, potentially causing injuries to the driver and passengers. VPCM is working with dealers to ensure parts supply, and the recall will be carried out in phases.

Owners will be notified via email and WhatsApp, and recall services will be provided free of charge. The move comes after Daihatsu suspended vehicle shipments last week due to safety testing issues.
