At CES, Sharp demonstrated a new TV screen, QDEL TV, which uses unique QDEL (Quantum Dot Electroluminescent) technology. Unlike QLED and QD-OLED, it does not require a backlight or independent power supply.

Sharp claims that QDEL screens are easy to manufacture and have similar quality to OLED, but overcome the shortcomings of OLED, such as low brightness, risk of screen burn-in and pixel aging. Digital Trends reported observing 12-inch and 30-inch QDEL prototypes, but no manufacturing plans have been announced.

This innovation is regarded as Sharp’s major breakthrough in the field of television technology and has attracted attention.
