Amazon is investing $15 billion in Japan to expand its cloud computing business

Amazon Web Services (AWS) said on Friday that it plans to invest 2.26 trillion yen ($15.24 billion) in Japan by 2027 to expand its cloud computing infrastructure.

Amazon said in a statement that it is investing in expanding facilities in metropolises such as Tokyo and Osaka to meet growing customer demand.

AWS says this is on top of the 1.51 trillion yen spent between 2011 and 2022 to build cloud capacity in Japan.
