Data from the German Statistics Office show that German exports to major trading partners such as the United States and China fell sharply at the end of last year.

Calendarly and seasonally adjusted exports to countries outside the EU fell 4% in December from November to 57.2 billion euros. Compared with December 2022, the decline in exports to non-EU countries was even greater, 9.2%.

Although the United States remains the most important trading partner, exports to the United States fell 9.9% year-on-year in December to 11.2 billion euros. Exports to China fell by 12.7% to 7.2 billion euros.

On the contrary, exports to the UK increased by 19.7%, reaching 6 billion euros.
