In order to launch the electric car, Apple abandoned some of its ambitious design ideals and adjusted to more limited features. According to people familiar with the matter, Apple, which originally planned to launch driverless cars, is now developing electric models with more limited functions.

The company’s target date for the launch of electric vehicles has been pushed back to 2028 at the earliest, two years later than previously forecasted. Apple’s secret R&D has undergone many changes, and the project has faced layoffs and strategic adjustments.

Apple wants to enter new product segments with electric vehicles to boost revenue growth, and despite difficulties with full self-driving technology, it is now moving to basic driver assistance features, in line with Tesla’s Level 2+ system.
