Tesla is developing a compact crossover electric car code-named “Redwood” and plans to start production in June 2025, with an expected output of 10,000 vehicles per week. The move is in line with Elon Musk’s remarks at the May 2023 shareholder meeting, saying Tesla is developing two new electric vehicles with a combined annual sales of 5 million vehicles.

Previous plans to launch a $25,000 car have been revived. Tesla has faced criticism recently over its relatively outdated Model 3 and Y designs, and the launch of the new cars could alleviate those concerns.
