According to the latest World Digital Competitiveness Rankings by the Swiss Institute for Management Development (IMD), Indonesia’s digital competitiveness has risen to 45th in the world, jumping six places from 2022 and rising 11 places in the past five years.

IMD believes that the key factor for Indonesia’s digital competitiveness is the positive growth of investment, especially from the telecommunications, banking and venture capital sectors, as well as the growth of tech entrepreneurs. Although superior to India, the Philippines and Mongolia, it still lags far behind Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand in Southeast Asia.

IMD recommended that Indonesia increase internet speeds, increase the number of internet users, tackle software piracy, and increase support for the latest technology patents and technology research and development.
