Google launched Gemini, a new artificial intelligence product, emphasizing that it can not only process text, but also “understand” video, audio, images and code.

The product is the result of a collaboration between Google DeepMind and other teams, and is being rolled out for the first time in the Bard chatbot and Pixel series of smartphones.

DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis said Gemini is the “most capable and versatile model” they have built and will be used in more Google products in the future, including search, advertising, Chrome and Duet AI.

With sophisticated reasoning capabilities, Gemini excels at extracting insights from large amounts of data to power breakthroughs in fields from science to finance, and can understand, interpret and generate high-quality code.
