Philippines tourist arrivals reach 5 million, exceeding 2023 target

The Philippines Tourism Department said that the Philippine tourism industry exceeded the set goals before the end of the year, attracting 5.07 million international tourists and generating revenue of 439.5 billion pesos.

South Korea, the United States, Japan, China, and Australia are the top five source markets. The tourism industry created 5.35 million jobs in 2022, and the number of foreign tourists is expected to double this year.

The Ministry of Transport is promoting the national tourism development plan, focusing on connectivity and equality, and plans to build tourist rest areas across the country, launch 24/7 tourist assistance centers, and enhance the beauty of tourist attractions.

The minister hopes to launch more direct flights and plans to increase the number of tourists to 7.7 million by 2024.
