Microsoft announced its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2024, with revenue of $62 billion and net profit of $21.9 billion, an increase of 18 %和33% percent from last year. The most notable is Activision Blizzard’s $68.7 billion acquisition, which, while Microsoft did not release specific figures, said overall gaming revenue grew by 49%, with 44 percentage points coming from the “net impact” of the deal.

Although Microsoft announced last week that it would lay off 1,900 employees at Xbox and Activision Blizzard, its personal computing division (Xbox, Surface and Windows) has grown by 19% since last year. Activision Blizzard deals accounted for 15 percentage points of growth. The focus will be on how Microsoft will use the acquisition to boost Xbox sales or spark interest in Game Pass subscriptions.
