Sony has released a new medium format sensor, the IMX811, with 247MP resolution and 16-bit processing. The dimensions are similar to the Phase One IQ4 and larger than the sensor of the FujiFilm GFX100 II.
This 4.1-type back-illuminated CMOS sensor may not appear on consumer cameras, but is instead used in industrial or professional camera systems. Specs show a 3:2 aspect ratio, a pixel count of 19200 x 12800, and 16-bit output up to 5.3fps, which can be boosted to 12fps by dropping to 12-bit.
High manufacturing costs may limit their entry into the consumer market.
