Alibaba is evaluating multiple online shopping platforms in South Korea and has listed ABLY as its preferred investment target. If successful, this will be Alibaba’s first investment in a Korean e-commerce company.
“Yonhap” reported that the Korean Personal Information Protection Commission stated that it would not set a transition period for Chinese cross-border e-commerce platforms such as AliExpress and Temu, requiring them to comply with South Korea’s personal information protection law. The committee recently held a symposium in Beijing with a number of Chinese Internet companies, including Alibaba, Temu and 360 Group.
