Qantas plans to retrofit its existing international fleet with fast, free Wi-Fi from the end of 2024, with the service expected to be available on all international flights in 2026. The service will use global satellite technology, relying on Viasat to provide high-quality connectivity. The A330, B787 and A380 fleets will be gradually transformed. The new aircraft will be Wi-Fi enabled when delivered.

At the same time, the Qantas Group introduced the A220 aircraft to replace the Boeing 717. The aircraft has twice the range of the former and serves multiple Australian cities and offshore destinations. Other airlines such as Turkish Airlines and Emirates have also announced free Wi-Fi services.
