IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, ordered 30 A350-900 aircraft from Airbus, making its first foray into the wide-body aircraft market.

Although demand in the aviation market is growing rapidly, manufacturers are struggling to meet production targets. IndiGo plans to double its capacity by the end of the decade and expand its international network. The order is worth more than $9 billion, and the actual price may be less than half of the official price.

Deliveries of the A350 aircraft are expected to begin in 2027 and will be powered by Rolls-Royce’s Trent XWB engines. The company also holds purchase rights for 70 A350 aircraft.
