Amazon’s cloud and AI businesses will drive next phase of growth

Amazon released its first quarter financial report, with operating profit of AU$23.65 billion and revenue reaching AU$221.49 billion, an increase of 13%. Amazon Web Services cloud division’s sales were AU$38.64 billion, an increase of 17%, with profits of AU$15.46 billion, and a profit margin of 37.6%, a record high.

The CFO said the cloud computing business is receiving strong demand signals, especially in the field of artificial intelligence. The company plans to invest A$231.85 billion in the construction and operation of data centers in the next few years. In Australia, AWS has become the service provider of choice for government agencies and major retailers.
