Amazon has launched Amazon Q, an artificial intelligence chatbot designed specifically for AWS cloud computing customers and directly competing with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google Bard and Microsoft copilots.

Amazon Q costs $20 per month for users and offers the ability to perform multiple tasks, including document summarization and answering questions about data on the company’s servers.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy emphasized that Amazon Q is a more secure version of the chatbot that implements tighter controls on content access.

AWS CEO Andrew Selipsky said cloud customers can limit chatbots to limited and predetermined data sources.

The move comes amid Microsoft’s boardroom dispute over OpenAI, with AWS seeing its artificial intelligence services as a real option for enterprise needs.
