Microsoft announces $2.9 billion investment in Japan

Microsoft announced that it will invest US$2.9 billion in Japan over the next two years to promote the development of artificial intelligence. The move highlights Japan’s determination to become a powerhouse in artificial intelligence.

By partnering with OpenAI, Microsoft has become a major player in artificial intelligence and plans to train 3 million Japanese workers in artificial intelligence skills over the next three years.

In addition, Microsoft will open its first Asia Research Laboratory in Tokyo to strengthen cybersecurity cooperation to deal with cyber threats from countries such as China and Russia.
