Malaysia is becoming the most important partner of Singapore’s food industry

The Malaysian newspaper reported that relations between Malaysia and Singapore continue to improve. Malaysia offers Singapore a hinterland with sufficient land area to explore the prospects of advanced agriculture, which is fast becoming a key growth sector. Food safety was a clear call for all at the September 2023 summit in Indonesia.

In the food industry, post-COVID-19 Singapore has embarked on an ambitious plan to increase production of its overall nutritional needs from 10% now to more than 30% by 2030. Through this effort, Singapore is quickly becoming a hub for agri-food technology. Ideally, this will become another key area for more joint ventures between the two parties.
