Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programs will be strengthened to address Malaysia’s engineer shortage and emphasize the importance of artificial intelligence technology.

While celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Kelantan, he said he would ensure equal opportunities for young people in Kelantan in the fields of technology, engineering and artificial intelligence. He also expressed Microsoft’s interest in investing RM10.5 billion to develop artificial intelligence technology in Malaysia.

Anwar also announced a salary increase for civil servants of more than 13%, which was supported by all MPs, to balance the income gap between low-level and high-level workers.
