16% of Singaporeans say stress is uncontrollable

Malaymail reports that a new study released on October 31 shows that stress levels in Singapore have risen steadily since 2021, with nearly nine in 10 (87%) people reporting feeling stressed this year, higher than the global average Seven percentage points (October 31) were found.

Respondents had three options for how they would rate their stress levels: “stressed but controllable” (71%), “stressed but not controllable” (16%) and “not stressed at all” (13%).

Of all age groups surveyed, Gen Zers aged 18 to 24 have the highest proportion of people feeling stressed (90%).

The findings come from the Cigna Healthcare Vitality Study 2023, which surveyed 10,800 respondents across 12 markets between May and June 2023, including 1,000 respondents from Singapore. The study asked questions about individuals’ physical and mental health, stress levels, and perceptions of corporate support for health.
