The Malaysian Ministry of Transport will support the state of Malacca in attracting investment for the Malacca International Airport (LTAM) at Batu Berendam.

The Malacca minister said he has discussed plans to attract airline investment in LTAM with the chief minister and the transport ministry will work with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to promote investment in Malacca by potential investors. While no details were given on the form of the investment, the move is intended to support LTAM’s development as commercial flight operations have ceased.

The minister stressed that formal agreements will be brokered between state governments and commercial airlines to ensure sustainable services.
