Reuters reported that on November 15, New York state sued PepsiCo, accusing the beverage and snack food giant of polluting the environment and endangering public health through its single-use plastic bottles, caps and wrappers. The lawsuit, filed in northern state court in Erie County, is the first filed by a U.S. state against a major plastics producer.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James has accused PepsiCo of causing a public nuisance by generating massive amounts of plastic waste in and around the northern Buffalo River, more than 17 percent of which can be easily traced to a specific brand.
