The Philippines has signed a $400 million partnership with Astranis and Orbits to bring internet to remote areas of the country.

President Ferdinand Marcos said this would help bridge the digital divide and drive digital transformation. The first two MicroGEO satellites are expected to be delivered within the next eight years and will bring an investment of US$400 million. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Romualz said the first satellite will be named “Agila” to promote technological progress and strengthen international partnerships.

This project will benefit approximately 10 million users and 30,000 barangays (the smallest administrative divisions) and create 10,000 jobs.
